Flew out on the Friday before Tom’s 31st birthday, from Heathrow on the 11:25 flight. This was delayed a bit and we arrived out our old favourite the Waterfront Hotel in Sliema, around 4:30pm.
We then unpacked and headed over to Tom’s apartment in Floriana. Walked into Valletta and then went for meal in D’Office in Archbishop Street, very nice meal and then went for a quick drink in The Pub, well known as a naval drinking hole and also as the place where Oliver Reed on a bender suffered a massive heart attack and died.
Saturday
Up at 8am and out the door for a quick 3 mile run minus Chris.
After breakfast we set off on the ferry to Valletta, a bit of a wander and then off to play Tom and Alex at Padel. Some good games but youth prevailed over experience! We headed back to Sliema for a bit of a wander. Meal at the Corinthia Palace Hotel at Attard with Tom and Tuva, very grand 5* hotel, nice but expensive meal.
Sunday
Tom’s birthday
Quick wander in Sliema before meeting Tom and Tuva at the San Anton gardens, right by the Corinthia Palace, very quick wander around the gardens before jumping in a taxi to Zebug, pretty light town. We were celebrating Tom’s birthday at his friends Italian restaurant Ocra. Alex also came.
Very pleasant meal with Prosecco and Champagne.
Taxi back to the hotel while Tom and Alex went off for a few beers.
We went for a dip at the hotel before joining them at the Hammett bar for drinks.
Stopped at Burger King on the way back to the hotel.
Monday
Bus trip to St Julian’s which was nothing special, met Tom in Sliema for coffee.
Aqua Luna for pizza and it was time to go home.
Weather has been amazing and we’ve a fun but busy time.
