13th April 2018

With Daz, Rob, John & myself.

This year we decided to join with the rest of the a3crg team in Tuscany. The 4 of us set off from Liphook around midday on Friday 13th April in Rob’s Mercedes 220d e class.

We stopped overnight in Samoens in Robs friends apartment arriving around 1am local time.

What an amazing place.

Set off in the morning for a quick ride up the famous Col de Joux Plane, quite a stiff climb!

Set off around midday for the drive to fosciandora in Tuscany,

Daz’s pedal sheared off on the way down meaning a detour to a bike shop on the outskirts of Lucca, arrived at 8pm for dinner prepared by the locals.

21 people in total.

Sunday

Group ride which was to include the ski resort of Abetone but after a 2 hour climb in the cold and wet the 4 of us decided to double back, not a great introduction to Italian cycling!

Monday

Rode with the boys plus Graeme & Jerry along the river valley to Pisa, warm and sunny which made a change.

Stopped for Pizza and rode back, myself and Graeme did an extra bit to make it just over the 100.

Really tired.

Tuesday

Went out on my own today with the drone, took it really easy but still big climbs.

Damp start but brightened up. Stunning scenery but ended up going down a really rough track and had to walk a bit.

Wednesday

Group ride to the beach, out and back over a very long climb, myself and John stopped for a gelato back in Garfagnana.

Locals cooked us pizza in their proper oven.

Thursday

Just a recovery ride on my own today.

Chilled out at the village.

4 course Meal again prepared by the locals.

John & Rob late back but had done 100 miles.

Friday

Set off sharp for Someons, arrived early afternoon for a ride, this was meant to be easy but we ended up going up a very steep climb! 50 minutes plus of climbing!

Very very tired.
