15th to 22nd September 2024

Sunday 15th
Travel day, Gatwick flight at 13:50 from South Terminal, holiday was with TUI.
Arrived at the Aluasol hotel around 20:30, quick check in and then dinner. Dinner and a few cocktails later, including ouzo and we called it a night.
Monday 16th
After breakfast we went to catch the bus to Tsivili, after waiting awhile it became apparent that we may have got the timings wrong, eventually we got a taxi large enough to take us. Had a look around the shops, down to the beach and had coffee, when it came to leave we struggled to find a taxi big enough, in the end myself and Chris walked back (40 minutes) and the ladies got a taxi back. Lunch at the hotel and then by the pool for the afternoon.
Dinner was followed by a few games of uno.
Tuesday 17th
This time we were prepared and caught an earlier bus into Zante town, Gilly needed a new handbag! Actually a nice place to wander around.
Bus back and then lunch.
After lunch we went to the bay round the corner from the hotel, went for a swim with Ali & Chris in the sea which was really warm.
Back to the pool.
Myself and Clare went in for the table tennis competition which we came out on top.
Aperitif by the pool, Clare topped up with a large glass of ouzo! Dinner followed by evening entertainment, 3 black dancers doing break dancing. Dragged up on afterwards to join in with Ali & Clare.
A few games of uno to follow.
Wednesday 18th
Woke up to a very loud thunderstorm with very heavy rain, so heavy in fact it came into the room. This quickly passed and after breakfast it was a late call to pop into Zante town by bus to have a bit more of a wander around.
It was only a quick look and we were soon back for lunch. Pool and table tennis with Clare against the Northern team of Paul and Jan which was fun.

Thursday 19th
Today was boat trip day, Northern part of the island. Turns out the 6hr boat trip was in fact 3 hours on a coach and 3 on a boat.
Oh well, first stop was Xigia Sulphur beach where we had an hour stop. Steep walk down to the beach, I was the only one to go for a swim which apparently takes 10 years off you! Flew the drone here.
Next stop was Agios Nicholias where we boarded the boat.
Weather was a bit cloudy and some dark looking clouds on the horizon.
We went straight to the shipwreck where we took plenty of photos.
Next stop was a cove where we were able to go in the water and snorkel, lovely spot but only a few fish.
The weather took a turn for the worse and the people who had rushed to get on first were soaked! Luckily we had shelter but we were all still getting wet.
Onto the blue caves, the next stop was for a swim but due to the rain we missed this and headed straight back to the bus.
Polish Anna was very good.
Back to the hotel for bar snacks and drinks.

Friday 20th September
Dull day, a bit showery. Lots of undecided what to dos, for me I hadn’t seen enough of the island and as we would’ve had to spend money on buses, it seemed logical that I/we may as well hire a car for the day for 50€.
Drove down to Tsilivi harbour for a quick wander, turns out everyone did actually fancy a drive out especially as the weather wasn’t sunny. Back to the hotel for the drone then onto Zante town as we hadn’t down quite enough looking around the shops! Coffee here and then onto Camino Island, this was really nice but the weather was starting to turn. Decided to abandon and head back to the hotel, stopping off by the airport to watch the planes come in, another quick stop into Zante town and then back to hotel for snacks.

Saturday 21st
Day at the hotel with a trip to the beach and a dip.
Stretching class in the morning, plus a high intensity class at the end of the day which was tough. Massage as well which was okay.
Had our Ala Carte meal which was good and made a change from the buffet.
Final round of Uno.
Sunday 22nd
Travel back day, early evening flight so made the most of the sun and all inclusive.
Great week, weather mostly very warm with a few thundery showers, good fun playing uno flip.
