We were meant to be going to Malta for Tom’s meal with Steve Groves but the flights were very expensive, looking closer to home we found a short break to this dog friendly hotel in Tewksbury in the Cotswolds.
When I say dog friendly, I meant it as each dog had their own cooked breakfast! Went with Ali & Chris plus dogs, Chris drove us up in the camper van.
Plenty of walks, shopping, eating and drinking.
Friday 25th November 2022 – arrived at hotel, had a light lunch, checked in to room which was nice. Quick stroll with the dogs and a session in the pool, jacuzzi and steam room. Dinner and wine at the hotel, food was excellent.
Saturday 26th November – walked into Tewkesbury, lovely town with an Abbey, olde worlde shops and a flooded river avon. Back at the hotel and more swimming etc.
Dinner at a lovely pub in Tewksbury after a bit of hunting round. ‘Tudor House’
Nice smooth beer – Butty Bach
Sunday 27th November – running on treadmill for 30mins. travel back via Cheltenham shopping. Drove back thru Fairfield and Lechlade, stopped at the Farringdon Folly which was a fun walk having to find wooden animals in the woods! Stopped at Wantage on the way home at the Lamb Inn for a roast!
Butty Bach is a Welsh term meaning ‘little friend’ – and this charmingly smooth premium ale has certainly made more than a few friendships in its time. We brew it using Maris Otter and Crystal malts together with locally grown Fuggles, Goldings and Bramling Cross hops. With such fine ingredients, no wonder it remains a firm favourite.
Very nice hotel, lots of facilities, great location and very dog friendly.
