Malta for Gilly’s Birthday

Thursday 20th October 2022
Travelled out on the 10:50 flight from Heathrow Terminal 4.
Collarbone and ribs were still painful so Chris drove my car.
Flight a bit delayed and we arrived in Malta just be before 4pm. Taxi to the Waterfront hotel in Sliema and it was time to get ready to go out.
Tom & Tuva had arranged for a lovely evening at Gracey’s and it started off with champagne on the terrace. We also met Jordan their Boston Terrier and reacquainted with Alex.
We then went for dinner, many delightful courses, white wine and red wine. And a very special dessert for Gilly.
Friday
Breakfast at the hotel, then a wander round the shops in Sliema, including Zara! Drinks by the sea and a walk back to the hotel. Spent the afternoon at Aqua Luna in the warm sunshine.
For dinner we walked along the front at Sliema and had a meal in a busy but nice restaurant.
Finished off with cocktails and baileys at the hotel.
Saturday
Slept much better.
Got a taxi for 9am and met Tom, Tuva and Jordan at Pallazzo Parisio at Naxxar for breakfast. Absolutely stunning venue and gardens with a lovely breakfast. From there we walked to Mosta to see the Mosta Rotunda Cathedral, famous for being bombed in WW2 and the bomb not exploding. In there they had a network of underground shelters, which was fascinating. Bus back to Sliema.
Late lunch at Aqua.
Then a walk over to the point shopping centre via Zara, lots of shopping. Chris very nearly lost his wallet which was on a chair in Costa. I also felt a bit wobbly today.
Walk back to the hotel and a meal in the hotel.
Sunday
Tom came over for breakfast, while Tuva went to the gym, he then went home while we got ourselves ready, jumped on the ferry and went to his apartment in Floriana, really nice apartment and roof terrace.
We then all caught the gondola over to Birgu, absolutely stunning marina with loads of restaurants and stunning architecture. Stopped for a late lunch and then a drink at a friend of Toms bar.
Bus back to Sliema, out to Tiffany’s for a light dinner. Stopped for a beer and watched the Texas Grand Prix.
Monday
Home day, breakfast and then chill out at Aqua Luna, flight at 5pm which went very smoothly.
