Dates: Friday 27th to 30th Jan 2023
Who went: Me, Gilly, Ali, Chris and Clare
From: Travel from LHR
Friday 27th January – Travel went well, although a slight hic-cup when we arrived at Malta airport, Clare’s passport was over 10 years old although not expiring until August, this was potentially an issue with passport control at Malta and we had to be taken to one side, luckily they saw sense after a chat and let us through. Got a taxi with Fred for 14 € which was good. Quick stroll to the Point as Gilly wanted some boots, no surprise there!
Due to scaffolding on the building, the hotel was offering free drinks hour at the hotel between 5pm & 6pm which we took advantage of!
Dinner at the hotel with the 5 of us.
Saturday 28th January – Straight to Zara for a quick look around and also to get a birthday cake. Had a coffee and cake at the cutest cafe, where there were themed sections, we sat in the Paddington Bear section. Clare starting to feel unwell and went back to the hotel. I actually bought a nice blazer for €25 which was very good value.
Met Tom, Tuva & Jordan in Sliema and we cut the birthday cake back at the hotel.
For the evening we were booked in for Gracy’s for 8pm for Toms birthday meal, Clare unfortunately was unable to make it, which was a real shame. We had a lovely evening, amazing food and wine, we were joined by Alex, Danny and his wife. We arrived back at the hotel for 1am having resisted the calls for karaoke by Danny, Tom stayed!
Sunday 29th – went to Medina, Clare still not well. We met Tom & Jordan at the Medina Gate, lovely walled small town, a smaller version of Dubrovnik. Used the Bolt app to get a taxi.
Went back to the hotel.
Big thunderstorm in the evening, tricky finding somewhere to eat as the roads were very waterlogged. Ended up at the Punto opposite the hotel. I had a very nice seafood risotto.
Monday 30th – Tom met us for breakfast at the hotel, we then met up with Tuva and Jordan and we all went for a walk minus Clare who was feeling a bit better but not well enough. Walked across to the disused ruins of Maneopol across from the hotel, bright warm sunshine.
Finished up at Aqua Luna while we killed time before our 16:55 flight home.
