Holiday to Alcudia – July 2019
Big family holiday featuring Me, Gilly, Tom, Tuva, Ali, Chris, Clare, Jodie, Paul, Ben and Jesse. Phil and Gaby couldn’t make it due to school holidays.
Sunday 21st July
Early start as Flybe flight from Southampton was at 7:45am. Got there nice and early which was just as well as there were luggage dramas. They were very strict on enforcing the size of the hand luggage, Tom, Clare and Chris all being caught out and had to pay to put it in the hold.
Arrived at Majorca and an efficient pickup from shuttle direct to the HSM President hotel just outside of Alcudia by the beach. Quick lunch and then time by the pool. Evening dinner at the hotel and then bingo and a movie quiz, Ali won the bingo!
Monday
Walk into the Port of Alcudia, shops etc. Back mid afternoon for snacks and poolside frolics. Evening entertainment consisted of a performance of Grease, which was very amateurish but funny. Drink of the holiday so far was G&T.
Tuesday
Trip to the market in the old town of Alcudia. Made lunch back at the hotel and then went done to the beach for snorkelling.
Afternoon by the pool, drone trip to the towers.
Wednesday
Walk into the port, picked up 2 hire bikes for myself and Chris.
Back to the hotel for chill out by the pool.
Darts competition!
Thursday
Early breakfast, 49.4 mile ride taking in Lluc with a cafe stop. Came back via the marshes, absolutely baking hot. Bike okay but a bit too short.
Walk over to the lighthouse and waded/swam over to the island. Took some drone footage. Also snorkelling, weird as in parts the bottom had grass growing!
Jodie, Paul and Jesse went back in the morning.
Friday
Up at 5:40am, drone and camera footage by the lighthouse.
Bike ride to the lighthouse with Chris, very hot.
Took some drone footage by the lighthouse and overlooking Cala Figuera, battery warning quite a way out made for a very stressful return flight, just made it!
Back into Alcudia to drop the bikes off.
Food has been extremely good.
Quiz night.
Saturday
Lazy day by the pool, myself and Tom 241 in the bat and ball challenge!
Heavy rain shower at lunchtime, cleared up for the afternoon.
Walk/taxi into Port de Alcudia for a mooch and a drink.
Back for a nightcap.
Sunday
Early start for a midday flight back home.
HSM President, nice hotel, food good, location quiet but pleasant.
Cycling – very very hot, both rides came back bordering on the dehydrated and boiling hot feet!
Snorkelling a bit underwhelming.
